Deregulation, how it works!
Dutch municipalities are trying to deregulate their planning policies in order to proceed with desired developments proposed by architects, developers, investors and other stakeholders. In the last couple of years planning policies, bylaws and rules have accumulated, up until a point where those rules and regulations became inoperable for both the municipality and the private sector. But what happens when a municipality releases her planning policies or bylaws? After more than 1,5 years of experimenting with 24 Dutch municipalities, Stadsruim evaluated the program. The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs has asked Stadsruim to combine the experiences and lessons learned of all the stakeholders involved. The entire (Dutch) report can be viewed here.
